NBC Universal O&O KNSD (TV) created its first newscast from new digs at 9680 Granite Ridge Road last night. Director of Technology David MacKinnon said the move to the 52,000 square foot, two-story building, has gone smoothly.
Systems integration was done by Technical Innovation Broadcast Systems Group (TI BSG) of Norcross, Georgia, led by Project Manager Brian Kincheloe. The company also built NBC Universal master control hub facilities.
KNSD uses a Ross production assist system and robotic cameras at the new plant, LED lighting, and a 4K video wall. Dave says the building, purchased by NBC Universal, incorporates 200kW each of fuel cell and solar cell energy generation. Management points out that the new building has free parking, something the station did not offer downtown.
The station had been on Broadway downtown since moving in 2001 to a building held by GE, the company that wholly-owned the network and station.
