Speaker Bio:
Petr has served as CTO of Verimatrix since 2010. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s overall revenue security strategy and anti-piracy efforts as well as its advanced technology research and intellectual property development. He has more than 25 years of experience in the multimedia industry, and has extensive familiarity with content protection techniques for IPTV, DVB and OTT streaming, as well as forensic watermarking technology.
Petr represents Verimatrix at DECE, AAPA, W3C, SCTE and he has actively participated in other standards organizations including ATSC, DVB, SMPTE, ATIS, TVA, CEA, DLNA, OMA, and others. Petr served as the vice-chair of ATSC T3-S17 group in the role of a Java system architect defining a TV applications platform before smartphones and smart TVs were even invented. He also regularly speaks at conferences including NAB, Digital Hollywood, Anti-piracy and Content Protection Summit, and Copyright and Technology and has been published in numerous industry publications.”

February 2018 Meeting – Get the Sound Your Program Director Wants

With the latest broadcast audio processors, it’s easier than ever to give your station a competitive audio signature your audience and your program director will both love.

Paul Kriegler of the Telos Alliance visits Chapter 36 Wednesday, February 14th at 12 noon at iHeartMedia, 9660 Granite Ridge Drive in San Diego. He’ll give a talk on audio processing and try to answer your questions. Telos will provide a simple lunch. SBE members and guests are always welcome.

About Paul Kriegler

Paul joined Telos in November 2017. Like most Telos Alliance employees, Paul comes from a broadcasting background, including more than 25 years of broadcast management and programming experience, most recently with Lotus Radio in Reno and Emmis Broadcast Group in Austin. Over the years, Paul has been an incredible advocate of Omnia at all of his stations, which makes him a great fit for his new role. Paul says, “Processing is definitely a piece of the puzzle and part of the secret sauce on many successful stations. I look forward to helping my brothers and sisters in programming get the exact sound they want.”

January 2018 Meeting – It’s Joe from Telos

Voice-over-Internet-Protocol, VoIP, is fast taking over copper-based ISDN as the go-to technology for remotes, studio phones, and even studio-transmitter links. If you don’t know him, Joe Talbot from Telos talks a lot about this transition and some of its fine points. At Los Angeles and San Diego SBE meetings this month, Joe will lead a “telephony roundtable,” a guided discussion about the latest issues in telephony. He can address codec preferences, network latency, and hardware issues. Bring your questions and learn a few tricks.

Joe has worked in the trenches of broadcasting technology, first at KWIZ Santa Ana, later as Director of Engineering at KGO/KSFO San Francisco. He earned a patent for a method for remote telephone calibration. He’s been Product Manager at the Telos Alliance since 2010.

We had such a good time at Mimi’s Cafe last December, we’re doing it again. You can order anything on the menu, spread good cheer and shop talk, and hopefully, you can win a good door prize.
