MinutesMay Chapter MeetingGary Stigall, CSTE During the May 17, 2000 meeting: We discussed contributions to a scholarship fund. A question arose as to whether we should make a contribution to the Ennes Foundation again, or pursue a local scholarship. It was agreed that we would investigate local foundations that might be able to help with local scholarships for potential broadcast engineers in college. Oscar Medina gave a Certification Report, announcing three KNSD Certified Television Operators (CTOs), mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter. Fred Gotwald gave the Treasurer's Report, announcing new sponsor Rohde & Schwarz, local rep. Linc Reed-Nickerson, and an account balance of over $3,500. I asked for members to consider volunteering in June for an officer nominating committee in advance of the September elections. This committee is required by SBE bylaws. The positions of Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer have been filled for the maximum two years. Oscar Medina suggested we buy a chapter electronic camera, price limit $300. A motion was made, seconded, and voted in favor of by those present. Gary will buy the camera. George Palmer of Philips gave a presentation on the new LDK-6000 cameras. Our thanks to Philips and Sales Supervisor Kim Murphy for providing pre-meeting food and drink. Gary Stigall gave a tour of the new KFMB-TV Master Control Room. There, Larry Marston, Philips Training Specialist, gave a rundown of the Saturn Master Control Switcher. |
