Eden Takes CE Position at KGTVGary Stigall, CSTE KGTV gave one of its own the title of Chief Engineer. Ron Eden, who's been on staff for 26 years, was promoted to the lead position to succeed Marge Baldwin, who left at the end of 1999. Ron said that when he started in 1974, he was required to do operations for awhile even though he already had experience maintaining IVC type "A" videotape recorders at Southwestern Cable. He credits much of his knowledge to retired KGTV veteran Bob Markle. He has taught TV and VCR repair at local community colleges, and has served both as a studio and transmitter engineer. What's ahead for Ron and his team? First, he's trying to hire a new engineer. Also, they are migrating operations to "clustering", meaning that their programming content will largely come from Indianapolis. Then there's all that digital equipment to install. None of this leaves much time for resting on well-deserved laurels. |
