Two SD Properties to be SoldClear Channel and AMFM Merge By Gary Stigall, CSTE October 4, 1999 - Consider this: The Clear Channel Communications merger with AMFM Inc. is so big that the 125 stations they are required to divest would comprise one of the largest broadcast groups in the country. Says Clear Channel: "After anticipated divestitures required to gain regulatory approval, the combined company will have operations in 32 countries including approximately 830 radio stations and more than 425,000 outdoor displays as well as 19 television stations and significant equity interests in other leading radio broadcasting and outdoor advertising entities." That's big. You can read the details on their respective web sites. For San Diego, there are implications. The combined operation, to be known as Clear Channel Communications, will most likely have to divest two properties here. We're told it's too early to speculate what property will sell and to whom it would be sold.
