Certification Report

KNSD Operators Pass CTO Exam

Ricardo Sandoval

By Oscar Medina, CSTE
KNSD Chief Engineer SBE Certification Proctor

Congratulations to Ricardo Sandoval, Judy Williams, Shiran Stotland and Mae Crauder-Davis of NBC 7/39! They are KNSD's first master control operators to become "Broadcast Operator - Television" certified through the Society of Broadcast Engineers.

Judy Williams

Ricardo joined the staff at KNSD in March of 1995. In addition to master control, he also has filled the positions of camera, floor, audio and videotape operations.

In addition to her SBE Broadcast Operator certification, Judy also has her FCC 1st Class Radio Telephone License with Radar Endorsement.

Shiran Stotland

When I asked him why he decided to become SBE certified, Shiran replied "I learned a couple of things while studying for the exam and I think it will help my career." Again, congratulations to all!

Besides handling master control at NBC 7/39, Mae is also a professional artist with works on display at the Art Scene Gallery in Old Town San Diego. Asked to comment on her certification, she responded "There's always something new to learn and I decided to take the challenge."

Mae Crauder-Davis

There are several exams given yearly. You may apply till April 30 for the certification exam to be given in June. See our calendar for other opportunities. Contact Oscar Medina at KNSD, 619-279-3939, or send an e-mail message to the chapter.--GLS
