February 1999 MeetingBext's World-Class Transmitters
by Gary Stigall, CSTE The last time Bext hosted an SBE chapter meeting downtown, we were told a fascinating story of broadcasting anarchy in Italy. But I was equally impressed by listening to Bob Boehme, the staff customer service technician speak. He was truly the "lonely repairman" ala Maytag. In fact, he had relegated himself to on-call from what started as a full-time position. Since they started in 1985, their European-made FM and TV transmitters have gained a reputation for outstanding reliability. And who else can you call to pick up a transmitter from downtown when you need a quick replacement? They'll discuss company history and their line of broadcast transmitters one watt to many kilowatts. They have a new low cost exciter called the Lex 25 that incorporates an Innovonics stereo generator. Meet us at Bext in downtown San Diego, Wednesday, February 17. Social hour with refreshments starts at 6 p.m., with business and presentation at 7 p.m. As always, guests are welcome.
